Get Your Life 2020: Episode 2 With Chef Binta!
I’m back with Episode 2 of the Get Your Life 2020 series! This week I’m making a delicious fonio, kale and mango salad with Chef Fatimata Binta of Fulani Kitchen.
Here’s a little about Chef Binta, if you haven’t heard of her amazing Fulani Kitchen and Dine on a Mat pop-up events. She’s a first-generation Sierra Leonean of Guinean Fulani descent and likes to describe herself as a modern nomadic chef.
At Fulani Kitchen, her nomadic roots, classical training at the Kenyan Culinary Institute and love for nature and rural life come together to create vibrant, mouth-watering dishes. The love she puts into each dish is evident through the taste, colour and texture of everything she creates.
She’s also an ambassador for fonio, an ancient super grain traditionally grown and consumed in West Africa and the main ingredient in today’s delicious recipe. As we cook, we get into a conversation about grief, trauma, honouring your feelings and how to grow and succeed through it.
